Our New Favorite GRE Vocab Site: Word Dynamo from Dictionary.com

Many of you have probably heard of , if you haven’t already used the site before to look up GRE vocabulary. Maybe you are even familiar with its “Word of the Day” feature, which offers up a difficult vocabulary word along with helpful example sentences.

Well, they’ve just unleashed something far more robust, interactive, and downright fun – Word Dynamo.

I have to admit – I was just checking out the site…and, uh, I ended up spending far more time on it than I had anticipated. It’s not just the GRE words lists that I made (anyone can make these lists!), nor is it the other lists I checked out. It’s the fact that in Word Dynamo, dictionary.com has made such an engaging way to learn—and practice—anything from GRE vocabulary to characters from ancient mythology (or maybe it’s the fact that the site is so darn cute).

We recommend using these as fun, productive study breaks in conjunction to absorbing lots of words in context, as always.

Notable features include flashcards, crosswords, and badges. You also earn points earned for answering questions correctly. You can even challenge your friends on Facebook!

Essentially, Word Dynamo has turned learning anything into an addictive game, and that means learning GRE vocabulary. So if you’ve got a pesky list of words that you can’t seem to remember (or simply want to learn all the Vocab Wednesday words), make a game out of learning them, by heading to .

Update: Unfortunately, Word Dynamo is no longer available online, but it is available (for a $0.99 fee).

Let us know how you’re using Word Dynamo, especially if you have any tips for other Clemmonsdogpark GRE students! 🙂
