Welome to the discussion about building a Dog Park at Tanglewood

Architectural Rendering of Proposed Dog Park at Tanglewood

The Dog Park Committee is still working steadily at making the Dog Park at Tanglewood Park a reality. At this point, the plan is start construction on the Dog Park in June & July, and open it to the public in August or early September, 2012. (Originally the goal was to open by the end of 2012)

The group just needs a little bit more money and the Dog Park at Tanglewood will become a reality. “Our plan now is to go to the public and raise the rest of our funds through the sale of custom, laser engraved bricks that will be used to pave the entry way to the new Dog Park. They will be a permanent part of the new Dog Park, and are a great way to honor your pets – either living or deceased”, said Dan Greer, a committee member.

The end date to order a brick is June 1, 2012.The bricks contain three lines of copy, and can be ordered for $125 via credit card directly on the Forsyth Humane Society website, at www.forsythhumane.org. In addition, tax deductible monetary contributions can be also be made, as www.wsfoundation.org.

Below is a sketch of the proposed Dog Park at Tanglewood. The Dog Park will be on 2.3 acres of land across from the campground, and near the parking lot for the new walking trail. Admission the Dog Park is free.

The entry way will feature a beautiful stone and iron design, the brick paved entry way, and a wall of bronze plaques with the names of the Dog Park supporters. A sponsor’s name can be listed for a $1,000 donation, and several spaces are still available. From the entrance, you can either enter the small dog area, or the large dog area through a double gate entry system. The park will contain trees, benches, water fountains, poop bag stations, and a large gravel parking lot.

Construction will be supervised by Carl Carney of Davie Construction, who has generously donated his time and talents to the development of the Dog Park, to improve our community. Davie Construction is currently working on other improvements at Tanglewood Park, and Mr. Carney already has a strong working relationship with park officials and is in a great position to supervise the day to day construction activities.

COMMUNITY DOG PARK PLANNED FOR TANGLEWOOD PARK
IN SOUTHWEST FORSYTH COUNTY

A grassroots group of residents in southwest Forsyth & Davie County are banding together to build a dog park at Tanglewood near Clemmons, North Carolina.

The 2.3 acre site is located near the former soccer fields and campground, near the intersection of Clemmons and Harper Roads.

A formal proposal was presented to the Forsyth County Commissioners on Monday (July 11,2011) for approval.  Under the proposal, the group will fund the construction of the dog park by obtaining funds through individuals, businesses, civic, in-kind gifts of service & materials, along with local grants.

Plans for the park include separate large and small dog lots, an area for obedience classes, watering stations & pet waste valets, an area to hose off dogs, and some type of water feature so the dogs can cool off during the warmer weather.
